RESUMEN

Abstract Melanoacanthoma is a rare variant of seborrheic keratosis, which is notable for dark pigmentation and fast radial growth, making it difficult to distinguish from melanoma. Histologically, it is characterized by proliferation of keratinocytes and dendritic melanocytes. The authors report a scalp lesion, fast growing, suspected by dermoscopy and confocal microscopy examination, with dendritic cells distributed throughout the lesion. Based on these findings, it was not possible to classify this lesion as clearly benign, so it was excised. Histopathologic evaluation and immunostain were consistent with melanoacanthoma.

RESUMEN

Abstract: Bowen's disease is a type of squamous cell carcinoma in situ of the skin. The pigmented form is rare and represents less than 2% of cases. We report a case of a 74-year-old black man with a blackened and asymptomatic leg injury for about 6 months. Clinically, and under dermatoscopy, the injury was suggestive of melanoma or melanoacanthoma, and a definitive diagnosis was made by histopathological examination.

RESUMEN

Abstract The coiled and dotted vessels in a serpiginous arrangement or "string of pearls" is considered a classical vascular pattern associated with clear cell acanthoma. We present three cases of epidermal tumors different from clear cell acanthoma that have the same "string of pearls" vascular pattern. Even though most authors keep considering the "string of pearls" vascular pattern an almost pathognomonic sign of clear-cell acanthoma, the cases presented here suggest that some other epidermal tumors can also show this pattern.

RESUMEN

Abstract: Dermatofibroma is a frequent benign tumor of easy clinical diagnosis in most cases, but that can mimic other dermatoses. Dermoscopy may help to define the diagnosis and its classical pattern is a central white area, similar to a scar, surrounded by a discrete pigment network. However, dermoscopic findings are not always typical. We describe here a case of dermatofibroma exhibiting ridges, furrows and pseudocomedos, a pattern which is typical of seborrheic keratosis, in dermoscopy.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The dermoscopic features of vulvar melanosis lesions are well known. To our knowledge, there are only a few case reports about dermoscopic features of pigmented genital lesions in male patients. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate dermoscopic and clinical characteristics of benign lesions of the genital area in both males and females, and to assess the distinguishing dermoscopic criteria of vulvar melanosis and atypical melanocytic nevi of the genital type. METHODS: 68 patients with pigmented genital lesions were included in this observational study (28 male and 40 female). A punch biopsy was taken from all pigmented lesions and histopathological examination was performed on all specimens. RESULTS: We histopathologically diagnosed: genital melanosis in 40 lesions, atypical melanocytic nevi of the genital type in 15 lesions, melanocytic nevi in 9 lesions, seborrheic keratosis in 4 lesions. The most frequent locations were the glans penis (19 patients, 67.9%) in males and the labia minora (19 patients, 47.5%) in females. The mean age of patients with atypical nevi (28,6 ± 11,36) was significantly lower than the mean age of patients with genital melanosis (47,07 ± 15,33). CONCLUSIONS: Parallel pattern is prominent in genital melanosis, ring-like pattern is only observed in genital melanosis. Most pigmented lesions on the genital area are solitary. Blue-white veil and irregular dots are only observed in AMNGT. According to these results, we propose that histopathological examination is performed, especially if blue-white veil and irregular dots are found by dermoscopy. .

RESUMEN

Pigmented Bowen's disease is rare, though more prevalent in men. It presents as a well-delineated plaque in areas unexposed to sun. There are reports of association with seborrheic keratosis, solar lentigo or exuberant pigmentation of genital and intertriginous regions. A specific dermoscopy finding is the presence of brown or gray dots in regular arrangement and coiled or dotted vessels. Thus, we aim to raise awareness of the diagnosis of pigmented Bowen's disease in pigmented lesions.

RESUMEN

We describe a case of melanoma with the presence of comedo-like openings at dermoscopy. These structures, typical of seborrheic keratosis, represent an uncommon finding in melanoma. We emphasize the importance of searching for specific dermoscopic criteria for melanocytic lesions during the examination of a pigmented lesion, despite possible observations of characteristic structures of non-melanocytic lesions, in order to increase the accuracy in the diagnosis of melanoma.

RESUMEN

Seborrheic keratosis is a common skin lesion which may coincidentally be associated melanocytic nevi. The authors describe a case of dysplastic nevus associated with seborrheic keratosis and discuss the clinical, dermoscopic, and histological findings of this association. They also discuss the association between seborrheic keratosis and other benign and malignant tumours.

Introduction: The presence of seborrheic keratosis (SK) is a frequent cause of dermatological consultation. Objectives: Describe the clinical epidemiology of patients with seborrheic keratosis. Analyzing age and sex, anatomic location, histological variants and adjacent lesions. Material and Method: A retrospective descriptive study of 5,093 biopsies with clinical or histological diagnosis of SK from January 2010 to December 2005. We assessed gender, age, surname, anatomic location histological variants and injuries. Results: Of 54,320 biopsies received, 4,5 1 5 are SK histologically confirmed, 53% in females and 47% in men, being more common in sun-exposed areas. The mast frequent histological variable is common seborrheic keratosis. Conclusion: Distribution by age groups in relation to gender is similar. In this study, SK was more common in females, Most SK are located in 100% sun-exposed areas.

RESUMEN

Seborrheic Keratoses(SK) are common benign skin tumors of elderly occurring commonly on face, scalp, extremities, chest, back with genital and perianal sites being rare. Lesions are usually few millimeters to several centimeters, reaching pendulous proportions in areas of constant friction, especially in obese individuals. Though malignant transformation is rare, it is reported in irritated lesions, especially in flexures. An unusual case of giant lobulated seborrheic keratoses occurring in perianal area, without any evidence of malignancy on histopathology, in an otherwise healthy obese female is reported here.
